Crude Glycerine Banner

Crude Glycerine (Glycerol, C₃H₈O₃)

Crude Glycerine is an unrefined by-product obtained primarily from biodiesel production, soap manufacturing (via saponification), or fat splitting. It contains impurities such as water, salts, methanol, free fatty acids (FFA), and organic matter, making it unsuitable for direct use in food, pharmaceuticals, or cosmetics without further purification.

Applications

Since crude glycerine is impure, it is mainly used in industrial applications or further refined into high-purity glycerine.

Refining into Pure Glycerine
Distillation, ion exchange, or chemical treatment to produce USP/BP/EP-grade glycerine (99.7%+ purity).
Animal Feed Additive
Energy source in livestock feed (after methanol removal).
Chemical Intermediate
Used in making propylene glycol, epichlorohydrin, and other derivatives.
Feedstock for crude glycerine-based polymers.
Industrial Applications
Biogas & Biofuel Production: Fermented to produce methane or ethanol.
Antifreeze & Deicing Fluids: Due to its low freezing point.
Dust Suppression: Used in construction and mining.
Wastewater Treatment: Helps in microbial digestion.
Combustion & Energy Recovery
Burned as a low-grade fuel in boilers/incinerators.
